I think happiness is infectious. (Typed infections there first, !?) People are often willing to let someone interested and good-natured just join in for a bit. When I travelled in Thailand a few years back I got to try so many things that way. Pumping a hand bellows for forging knives, applying gold leaf to a temple's trim, punching holes in leather to make intricate art patterns, and roasting soft-from-the-ground peanuts over a wood fire. Although perhaps there are liability issues with rappelling...

Ohhh, your trip sounds wonderful. I have always wanted to go to Thailand, and am certain that I will at some time in my life.
