gouache dries flatter, acrylic would be more textural.

white gouache potentially will look and feel eggshelly when dry, acrylic would be plastic + glossy + bumpy.

are you going to continue decoupage-ing them ala the pennies? https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Decoupage

I wish I had some gouache! The plasticky/bumpy result is what I fear about using acrylic. :\

Decoupage is a great idea I hadn't really considered. I think some neat things could be done with the background using tissue paper, maybe? Probably won't be adding any more pennies though.

Cardboard is a really cheap canvas, so I'm not entirely sure how much more time I want to spend... haha :P
