Hi there Gwen, I'm Michelle and I'm new too. :) I just have a second, but I just wanted to say that I really have no idea how to water yet. I'm *brand* new at it too. But I think it depends on the soil?

I'll see if I can look something up later if I have a little time. I too, plan to post some pics in the next couple of days!

I'm excited about this community!

I'm still up in the air on the watering thing. The Square Food Gardening book actually tells you how many cups to water a week (if I'm remembering correctly) per plant type depending on using his specific soil mixture.

Hopefully you'll get some more seasoned gardeners to answer this one.

When you first plant seeds or transplant seedlings, water daily.

After the plants have established roots(a week or two), water once a week.

When it's blazing hot(think Texas in July), water twice a week or more...at night it the best time.

Remember most plant can tolerate a little grought much better than flood.

You know, I was amazed that it was so infrequent! I'd always thought it was a daily or even twice a day thing for the whole season. Funny what a little knowledge can do for ya. (grin)
