Vampire: The Limitations

The current problems with the game are not the local area (at least not at my local game), but the problem lies with the Global Staff. Instead of allowing the ST's that have to put up with most of the crap make the calls, they constantly limit everything about the game. Their reasoning in one of the examples is that if everyone has the same stuff ( Read more... )

City Status is free.

Ya, I know, but now that I sit down and think about it it is 36 XP to jump from my current statuses to 4 in each structure. Im just trying to decide if its really worth it. People will roleplay how they feel like regardless of status from what I have seen. In fact, as much as I hear certain high status players tell people that disrespecting high status characters has IC consequences, all I can say to that is they are correct, the consequence is that they are number 1 on the list to get whacked if someone wants to make a name for themselves among that structure. The other consequence is that its easier to happen to them because they wasted XP on status rather than surviving while others spent XP into being competent at completing the goal of killing them. My general feeling right now is that status really shouldn't cost XP. Its generally decided by players how they will treat eachother regardless of whats on someone's sheet.

The problem is that this is already the case. The only difference is that it is paid for rather than freely awarded based on merit. I think allowing people to app for status and justify it through signatures isn't the best way to filter who should be approved for it. Granted, it does hold everyone to the same standards (if you overlook that certain players are more popular than others), but I think the method could use some tuning up. Maybe perhaps show details of exploits and have other players verify those exploits. All I know is right now I am currently dissatisfied with the way the status rules currently work.
