A few weekends ago, I went to Nagasaki (Maurice was sick and stayed home) for the annual lantern festival. They hold it to celebrate Chinese (and formerly Japanese) New Year. After having some difficulty with the trams, I found my way to China town and wandered around there and surrounding areas. Fun fun.
This was at the train station. This picture is crafted entirely from colored toothpicks. Pretty cool, but kinda a waste...
Inside the huge arcade.
I had to chase these dragons down the street to get this shot.
Not really sure what's going on here, but I think it was supposed to be a royal procession.
Then they took to the waters and slowly made their way to wherever it was they were going. Lots of drums and bells.
Lots of pig heads in a shrine. Not sure what it's for, but my best guess is for good fortune.
Famous 'spectale bridge'. I'm sure you can guess why it's called that.
More pigs...
And lastly, Maurice stumbled upon this very fun site that lets you make your own super heros, or whatever else you like. He got really creative, and with lots of patience and some skill with Paint, he came up with it this. Heeee.
It's called, 'Vote'.
Maurice did me as a proper patriot.
