working for the accounting department gives me the chance to snoop around the expenses of the big wigs within the company. some of the reimbursable items just absolutely makes no fiscal sense whatsoever ( Read more... )

i'd like to really really belive i wouldn't be that excessive had i the money, but designer denim, high heels, and leather purses lure my ass in.

then again...i suppose the difference is perspective?

But there's a fundamental difference between splurging on the 'finer things' and carelessly spending more than is necessary for standard items/services. My examples of the latter aren't as extreme as a $1,100 flight, but it's the same principle, and i guess it comes down to either not realizing that they're spending more than necessary or simply not caring because it's the companies, not theirs.

My example- The secretary at my job is in charge of buying office supplies and sundries. So she goes out to the drugstore and comes back with a) 4 liquid soap pumps & b) 10 small square boxes of kleenex. And it frustrates me because it's like, how can you not realize that they a) also sell giant refill bottles of liquid soap that are three times the size of the pump for the same price- we dont have to buy fresh pumps every time! & b) that the large rectangular boxes of kleenex give you a lot more tissues for a small extra cost and will thus last longer on peoples' desks and end up saving money!

and if i had money, i know i'd be guilty of spending on designer items as well. but with the case of this particular exec, it just pisses me off that he's spending the taxpayers' money. i mean, if it were his money, i wouldn't bat an eyelash -- hell, take a concorde flight, if you want to. but check it, this reimbursable item he's claiming, our company will bill the government for it. so essentially, you and i are paying this fucker's $1100 flight.

anyway, i've ranted too much. don't even get me started with refugees getting free meds -- viagra, at that. it infuriates me how these fuckers get away with so much.
