i thought i knew pain before, but i was mistaken.  my damn wisdom tooth is growing in and impacting the molar next to it.  tooth pain leads to nausea.  ack.  i have an appointment tomorrow, so hopefully all will be well soon.
my insurance company pissed me off greatly last night.  my birth control has now gone from $25 a month to $65, which is ( Read more... )

So I got laid off a few weeks ago and my bc had gone up to $50 a month before that. So I was going to start going through Planned Parenthood because they are just cheaper than going through insurance. So, in order to get them without having another exam (I had been just in December for my yearly) I just had to get them to fax a copy of the results over. So when I went to my gyno's office and asked for them to do it, she asked why and I told her I got laid off and have no health insurance now. She asked how much they were through PP and I said they had been $22 a few years ago but not sure now. So she says to hold on a sec and goes to the back. She comes back with 4 packs of my ortho pills and gives me a card with her name and tells me to call back when these are out and she'll hook me up for the rest of the year until my next exam. They know how we're getting gorged for the pills...she even said something about how they're typically more expensive through insurance. You might want to try to work a deal out saying that you just ( ... )

some doctors are really cool like that. they have tons of samples, so why not give em out, right? planned parenthood's prices started going up - i think i was paying $30 a month before i got this job and went to a "regular" doctor.

sorry to hear about the job thing lady. i haven't a chance to read up my friends page, but that sucks to hear. i'd give you a hug, but i never get to see you! you should go out with us tomorrow night -- merritt's birthday is on monday and a bunch of us are meeting up at cosmos.

Does your insurance have any kind of mail-order pharmacy? Ours has a "3 months for the price of 2" plan if you use mail order--when I was on NuvaRing, it was $25 per month, if I picked it up at the pharmacy. But if I ordered it through their mail-order pharmacy, I got 3 months worth for $50.

(But the expense was one reason I switched to an IUD. One co-pay of $20, and now I have birth control until 2016.)

i have that too, but a $65 copay just seems insane (something about it being an unprefered brand or something). i ended up calling my doctor and got on the generic version of my pill, so now it's only $10 a month -- much easier to handle!

Cool. I hope it works out for you. I'm waiting for one pill I take to finally get a generic version--it's $50 a month right now.
