Tulane just gave me 20,000 dollars a year for two years so, uh, guess I am moving to New Orleans. You should eagerly await stories regarding tranvestite techno dance parties and Creole food in the near future. Sweet!

Hey Faine- so for a foodie New Orleans is NOT a bad option. Have you ever been? The Morning Call (if it is still there) has wonderful beignets and coffee. Also, unrelated to food, the Aquarium is first rate. Commander's Palace always had wonderful meals but very pricey.. The French Quarter is ghastly, sleezy and overrated but worth checking out just to say you did. I think, in retrospect, that much of New Orleans is like that- overrated but worth doing. You may actually enjoy it.
