Got a video card on order through beast-buy: picking it up some time tuesday.
Took the card into Smart Guys (the renamed Cheap Guys) in Longwood on Sunday and had them test it out Monday. Blown capacitor on the card. $10 to test one component: would be $50 for the whole motherboard, cpu, memory, and vid card. Guy said as soon as they put it on the test equipment it started to smoke.
Ended up physically checking all the capacitors on the motherboard as well. Nothing visibly wrong; but, that doesn't mean something else isn't funky.
That's why the vid-card is vital: need to have one to see if the mobo is also bad: see if the old codes return.
Hoping it's just a bad capacitor on the video card.
If it's the mother board, that's a right pain: took me the better part of a week to find the "just right" motherboard at the time.
AND... still never received a response from FoxConn about my support request to them.
