The custodes tend to suck, so I prefer something other than MS. What was destroyed this time? Work related?

Nothing destroyed, just a lot of infected machines trying to form a botnet. You don't see much destruction anymore from these sorts of things. People found out you could make money by making a huge network of zombies and using them to click web page ads or distribute math processing for breaking encryption.
