Master Cleanse, Day 2, mid-afternoon

May 09, 2008 15:29

I'd been interested in doing the Master Cleanse for a while, for its detoxification / colon cleansing properties, so I started it yesterday. The regular course is 10 days, but I keep a pretty healthy lifestyle (and have been for a while now) so I may not need the full 10 days. You supposedly can tell by the status of your tongue; mine started ( Read more... )

health, shifting, food, vegetarianism, headaches

A friend tried it a couple of years ago and was mostly pro, though that's about all I know.

that's cool -- everyone who's done it or even tried for a little while seems to be pro, which is a good sign!

I did it last summer, but I gave up after less than 1 day. Might have had something to do with working in a cafe with all sorts of sweets in front of me. I did get a headache before breaking it.

Keep us updated, I'm interested to see what happens.

I've also tried a colon cleanse/detox program from Dr. Natura. It takes 2-3 months, it's quite rigorous, but I think it's helped me.

:) Yah, I'm sure working in the cafe didn't help you at all -- my food cravings were the strongest on Day 1 for sure.

I'll look into the Dr Natura program -- thanks for the recommendation! :)

OK, I'll keep LJ posted on my progress, although I probably won't do a day-by-day series.

I haven't, but I thought immediately of a story David Rakoff wrote about doing a cleanse in Don't Get Too Comfortable. You might enjoy reading it while you're doing this? I recommend the whole book in general...

Good luck!

Thanks! I'll look into the Rakoff although school starts up again for the Summer term this week, so my reading-for-pleasure will soon be returning to practically zero. wanh.

I think that's the same book I picked up in the Barnes and Noble! And I did read that story...and enjoyed it. Reminds me I need to check out that whole book. After reading all the stuff on my list (Another book reared it's head...a John Grisham book I was given. They're EVERYWHERE).

Cool. I'm very interested to see how this goes! I've wanted to do something like that for a while.

Yah, it's been on my mind for a while (over a year, actually!) and finally I just said "to hell with waiting, i'm doing it now" because i guess I was waiting for some kind of perfect storm of circumstances, and being between school terms right now seemed the closest to perfect any circumstances would be getting this season!

I'll probably be posting about it every other day, I hope.
