This week since ending the Master Cleanse has been interesting, food/digestion/energy-wise. I definitely feel myself becoming very sluggish after eating a larger meal, and feel better (maintained energy over the day) when eating smaller amounts more frequently. I watch Eric eat vast quantities of food at a time (e.g. 3 big pieces of sicilian pizza and a large bowl of soup) and not experience this, but... he's special (as we already knew). The guy also seems to lose weight the more pizza he eats... yes, very special. What else -- I've been craving fiber, and when I ran out of rye crackers I rediscovered the joy of stove-top popcorn (after years of microwave). It's just as easy as microwave, and tastes SO MUCH BETTER (not to mention concerns about using the microwave at all, for possible adverse health reasons). I felt faint yesterday at the rock gym, after a couple hours of awesometastic climbing -- I think I was dehydrated. Icky. Drank an electrolyte-enhanced drink and felt much more like a real person (rather than a near-death zombie). I wonder if my body (after being so well hydrated during the cleanse) is even more sensitive than usual to hydration levels? Also, it was hot in the gym (especially above 30 feet), and I was sweating a lot.
Summer term started in earnest last week. I like my classes but they're kicking my ass already (one of them has a real-time online class requirement [the first synchronous requirement since I started the program a year ago], and the other had a paper due today). Gorgeous summer weather makes it harder to be a good girl and stare at my computer screen all day indoors. Luckily, I do have a few physical/book readings to do, which can be done in the hammock, and I can maybe print out more articles & webpages than I've been wont to do. Also, I need to test whether my XO gets wireless while I'm out at the hammock, or else maybe convert things to PDF, and then test the outdoor/bright-sunlight screen setting.
It's definitely Summer -- the bats are out at dusk these days, hunting swoopily and beautifully as delicate black outlines against the blue twilight sky. I can't wait for lightning bugs!!!
Bells on cats don't work to deter bird death. People told me this before, many times, but I just finally wanted to see if it were true. It is. wanh. But maybe the bells have deterred some??? I'm keeping the bells on, anyway. And mice & moles are completely deaf, apparently. Especially the little bitty adorable baby ones, to my dismay.
