I haven't tried them -- but maybe I will this summer. funny story -- a couple years ago on the evening I discovered slugs devouring my just-planted baby watermelon plants, I wanted to try beer traps but all I had was fancy/boutique beer in the house, so I didn't. i planned to go out and get cheap beer the next day, but by the morning, all the baby plants were eaten to the ground! I should've used the fancy beer (maybe just 1 bottle)! :)
I did try diatomaceous earth on my bed of baby 3 Sisters plants last year, and that did work pretty well for the short time it was in powder form, but then it rained and the powder piles turned into surprisingly hard solid caked masses which lasted for weeks around each little stem. I could've hacked the cakes off & reapplied more powder i suppose but I got busy with school and then really that entire bed did not do very well overall!!
