To pile on the pressure, a note to myself: There is a conference for Evolutionary Biology in June next year in New Zealand. As usual, it's expensive, hideous, and highly stressful. Unfortunately that's the way things are (Oh, the number of people who've been horribly irritated by this trite phrase!) so deal ( Read more... )

Which part of June? I'll be graduating the first two weeks of June, but if it's in the middle/end of it, I'LL COME WITH YOU TO NEW ZEALAND and write it off as a vacation. I'm planning to just bum around, learn to drive, maybe travel a bit anyway over the summer.

Well!

The conference is 15th June and will last for what, four days? Less than a week. I'm still worrying about the money (NZ and the conference are both horribly expensive), so it's not confirmed. But it's a prestigious conference on evolution, and it's very good to go. Perhaps I should start saving up now. No, actually it's not possible. The registration for students is already NZ$300. Three hundred! daylight robbery I tell you.

I was intending to do that you know, persuade my parents to pay for the ticket because they could come after and we could have a family vacation like they've been wanting forever and three days. Well my sister excepted since she has her A levels.

Anyway it's fraught with problems and angstiness that I have no time to deal with right now. I'm leaving it till next year to decide. Plenty of time in January.

I'll keep you posted, then! It would be SO COOL travelling together.

*waves* Hi! Was just thinking of all the people I've sorta lost touch with, and I remembered you! (Happy very-belated birthday, by the way. A month late, heh.) Kinda guessed your blog address since you used to talk about squit/squidlet being your nickname back when we took classes together. Seems like 'squit' has already been taken by someone else, though... ANYWAY, this is Constance, from Dr G's writing module. Add me (or not)! Hope you've been holding up well!
