So last night Thomas and I got into a discussion about a woman's role in the family and also in the church. It was a great talk and it helped me to realize alot of things about myself. But before I did that i had to ask God to help me lay down my pride and accept things the way He designed them. Thomas and I discussed the heirarchy of the church ( Read more... )

HEY! i totally agree with you. i used to have a hard time with the whole "submissive wife" idea too, but now i am seeing the logic in it... but i guess that ideal role works only if the husband's ideal role is fulfilled.

i am so excited about your passion for God!! i had a Sunday school teacher who told us that we could all be called to be extraordinary Christians if we were willing to believe that God can do the impossible through us. I totally believe that He can through you and through me!! riches are so temporary, you are right! haha, i think i am coming to realize the amazing provision of faith. :)

I LURVE YOU!!!

If you look at the Galations verses, you'll also notice that the instructions given reflect the way in which we are prone to sin. Women, in the tradition of Eve, tend to want to be in charge. They want to and enjoy making decisions and this shows up in the home a lot because many women are primary care-givers of children. A huge portion of the day goes to caring for children whether a woman works outside the home or not. Women get used to giving instructions, orders, etc and expect to be obeyed. When the same philosophy is applied to their husbands, often conflicts arise because the husband is meant by God to be the spiritual head of the household under Christ and the Church ( ... )

I am going to say this as nicely as possible, but that sounds like an entirely American thing to say (concerning the rich thing).

You said that very nicely. I'm not sure how else I might have put it, considering I am American. I'm also not sure how it's specifically American, considering the wealthy of are all nations; as are the poor.

But remember, Jesus was not American and the words I was quoting are his words. He wants our focus to be entirely on him and on the Father. His was on the Father and the Father's glory. This world, it's riches, it's vainglorious pursuits, it's deceits, it's passions, it's horrors will all fade away when they are compared to the Lamb who was slain.

I know that Jesus talked about money and greed more than any other issue. I don't understand how we are not supposed to care about how people spend their money, when it is keeping millions of people around the world in unbelievable poverty. I know that Jesus doesnt like opression and he absolutely hates how some people are dying of starvation and treatable diseases and if he were here on earth he would be the voice for those people.
