Ah, the exodus. It's making me sad, too. Livejournal has always been my lifeline, the thread to my friends. No matter how caught up and busy I get, I can always sit here in the morning and connect - I'm still craving that.
Well I'm not going anywhere. Like you, I remain optimistic that people will return. I have a facebook, but it's impersonal and trite, as I don't want to post my private life there. It's my professional profile/quick-connect to other people in the art world and check-in for the midday break but that's about it. Here is where I write, where I think, where I unpack everything (much to people's detriment, I'm sure:P)
Friendship is as real to me on a screen as it is in the flesh. I'm sorry to hear you've lost one - I've missed his journal for a long time, too.
Bums me out, too. Greg has a bf. Steady. As if that's an excuse not to share himself with us!
I figured out my non-LJ-ingness: I'm lazy. My iPhone is too small for doing much LJing (even tho I'm using it now). My MacPro is too big to use while my ass is glued to the couch. If I am to return to my LJ glory days, I must fix my laptop. Then I can type long-form posts without leaving the comfort of my couch.
There. I just saved myself thou$and$ in therapy. :-)
Meanwhile, me & the boys are starting a music recording business. How fun!
I have both an LJ and a FB account, I use them for different purposes. FB is good for short messages and connecting with people, also I use it for posting photos. Since I am a non-payer of LJ, I use it primarily for the purpose of recording my Dreams and other Dream-like stuff, progress on my writings and the occasional rant about work. FB is not very good for any lengthy writings, nor is it as secure as LJ, although I have problems with both in the posting process.
