For those of you who make stuff, may I recommend the Northern Society of Costume and Textiles? They publish four pattern packs for a few quid, each of which has historical notes and scaled patterns for historical garments. ooh the beauty! Am jealous/impressed as ever by your sewing skillz.

I am trying to make a cover for the ergo baby carrier. I have fleece, velcro, and elastic sitting in a pile on my desk. Been there about a week. I want to start, but I'm flying completely blind here, and without a machine. May crack and buy one for cheap, even if just to then modify it and add extra layers of fleece...
