Security blankets...

Jan 04, 2009 19:19

I just let go, a little, of one of my security blankets. I cut about 8 inches off my hair, so its just below shoulder length. I'm not sure if I'm happy about it yet, it is however as short as I can cut it on my own. I'll go to a salon and get a style soon I suspect ( Read more... )

It *is* a rather drastic change, isn't it? I've gone from long to short hair a few times myself, and one time, went even further by going clean shaven as well. Sometimes, that sort of change is just what you need, and there are any number of valid reasons for doing it.

One hopes you will post pictures of you and the new do :)

Plum would be quite pretty.

I cut mine a year or so ago. It took some getting used to but it behaves better now.

...and yes you can always grow it back out.

so far, its exactly the same, but shorter. We'll see when I get around to getting some style to it.

trust me...your hair will love you for giving it a trim. yes, 8 inches is a drastic trim, but if you had split ends that far up the hair, it definitely needed it.

who knows, you might even grow to enjoy having less weight. i did. :) i went from butt-length hair to chin-length in one cut, and while drastic, i grew to love it.

at least for now I'll probably maintain it at around this length. We'll see, I have hopes of butt length hair one of these days, but in good shape!

I dunno about plum... but just random thinking while looking at the icon... you'd probably look pretty interesting with subtly red hair from there (like a light auburn... more red than brown...but only a shade darker than your hair is now)... with "highlights" of your real color.

Shoulder length is a nice "in-between". Honestly, I'm *dying* for my hair to hit that length again (it's getting there, thankfully). Long enough to do *something* with it, short enough not to be *long*.

*g* just poke me next time I see you... or I promise the chance of me seeing and recognizing you are pretty small (hair's one of the things I tend to focus in on when identifying people... heck, I have trouble enough with two of my sisters because they keep getting the same haircut on me! ... and they don't look that much like each other ... one's "the thin one" :-)

Right before Thanksgiving i had 14" cut. Sounds drastic (and yes the split ends went up the last 12" at least), but since it leaves my hair at waist length, almost NOBODY noticed, LOL. You know, like my family ( ... )

wow, I can't imagine having hair that was still waist length 14 inches later.

My problem with hair care is that I have such an oily scalp, but the ends of my hair wind up dry as a bone. I am careful to use gentle shampoos, but my scalp looks greasy by the time it finishes air drying.

As for my no style comments. Long, single length hair that is well taken care of is one thing. Hair that is about waist length, kind of had some layers at one point, is the way it is not by choice and care but because I didn't do anything with it is something else.

i was growing it out to see how long it would get. It was holding steady at about 2" below my butt, so i was sitting on it, getting it caught in chairs and car doors, and..... hitting my mom in the face with the braid when i got into the car and swung it to the front so i wasn't sitting on it i have an oily and dry scalp, my hair always gets oily faster at the scalp yet i have problems with flakiness too, yeesh. i hope the cassia will help with that. G had a similar problem with the oiliness when he grew his hair long, i can ask him what shampoo he was using (i think it was called Aubrey but i'll check ( ... )
