I hear you. :( Unemployment in this county is up to 10.6%--as opposed to being one of the lowest in the state when I moved here a year and a half ago. (Though the scary thought is that it may be, still! Coffee county is at 25% unemployment.)

There are some book stores that will give you cash for your books, although it is less than you'd get if you chose credit. Also, they're sometimes worth less if they're the monthly type. Meanwhile, selling clothing can be good... though if you're going the ebay route, it's a matter of asking little enough to sell it, but not so low that you don't make the fees. You might try advertising in some of the Renfaire communities first, and see if you get a taker. (I've thought this a lot fairly recently, as I'm looking to bring in some disposable income.)

Hope things work out! Feel free to email me if you need/want to talk.

*hugs*

If you don't mind getting rid of the kimonos and don't mind them becoming fodder for quilts, I would be willing to pony up a bit for those. I'm getting ready to do some quilt making for holiday gifts & I'd much rather the $$ goes to a friend than Joann's Fabrics.

There's http://www.secondeditionbooks.com/ in Columbia (same shopping strip as the MVA Express... and Sushi King (think that's the right name), on Dobbin Road.

They *are* still open, and still buy - though I don't know what the going price is for romance... or if they've date limits, etc.
