Project Runway: Two Weeks in!

I’m pleased that my earlier faves - Danielle, Becky, and Viktor - are still on, and making clothes I like! Fallene is stumbling, and seems too flighty for this competition. Not decided on Cecilia yet.

Danielle and Becky have competition though: the adorable Olivier (who presented a menswear collection in his pre-show portfolio, so I had nothing to ( Read more... )

Bryce (I'm guessing you mean his napkin dress?) showed promise. Poor Joshua was clearly out of his depth, crying constantly, and frankly should've been cut with the initial four (instead of David Chum, who can actually tailor.)

I love Olivier, but was rooting for Anya or aquarium-glass boy (who was it? I can't remember). I want crazy-over-the-top, not gray-beige, dammit!

How do you feel about Anya so far? I can't believe she's that good after only four months. Something feels fishy.

Anya's narrative feels very constructed, and I am put off by her whole "gee, I just entered a beauty pageant on a whim and won and then became Miss Trinidad and Tobago! And then I decided to design something just for fun and became totally awesome at it, whoopsie, and who would've thunk little ole me is so awesome?!" shtick. Aquarium glass boy was Joshua M, and his glass top was okay, I thought.

We appear to be much in concert about what we like so far (except for Becky.)

And I totally thought there was a Josh/Josh love connection going on, though I thought Mormon Josh was too fragile for reality TV after his complaint about how no one helped him in week one, so I think it's better he's gone.

I'm judging Becky on her portfolio, and the fact that she appears to hang in the middle of the pack without making it to the bottom 3. My hope is that soon enough she'll do something awesome and tweedy.

And yeah, Mormon Josh seemed to be permanently on the verge of tears, and he is just way too naive for this whole thing. I do wonder how far will Anya take her "Golly gee, I have no idea what I'm doing!" thing.

I think it's a line that's worked for her in the past (see the beauty pageant "and then magically I was a miss universe candidate" line) and it allows her to under-perform while exceeding expectations. I do think she has a strong personal style (and is very pretty, which I think helps with the judges) so if this weren't a sewing competition she'd go further, but I hope she'll go fairly soon.
