Hmm. I opted not to write anything for this because I felt I didn't know wnough about fashion but... maybe I would have. (Granted I don't know how much of it I have learned since the anthology's announcement... not for the anthology but because I've been helping a friend with her clothing line and listening to her)

These shoes were shown in 2009, by Nina Ricci, and were in every fashion mag. Now, they are pretty coommonplace, and there are even a few affordable versions. The shoe basically redistributes the wearer's weight along an elongated front sole, with heel transformed into an abrupt taper and disappearing pretty much entirely. The shoes are more balanced and wearable than they look.

I know this was probably a rhetorical question, and apologize for the serious answer. But people who do want to write stories about high fashion should be able to recognize those shoes, or at least know who/what Nina Ricci is.
