I dreamed last night that Abraham Lincoln was a friend of mine, and he was into trying out new hats. Every week or so he'd have a different kind of hat -- beret, tam, porkpie, etc. -- and it was sort of his thing, and we'd all tease him about it. There's something charming about this notion; other people recall past lives leading armies, etc. But in my past life, I outfitted the leaders of armies with hats. Sure, why not?

I know, right? Would anyone have taken Abe seriously if he'd stuck with the tam for decades? Or accepted a Great Emancipator in a pimp hat? It just wouldn't work.
