EXCLUSIVE: Gerry and Jason’s Secret Island Wedding
The New York Daily Star can exclusively report that today actors Gerard Butler and Jason Statham were married in a private ceremony among friends and family on the South Pacific island of Tahiti, days after reports surfaced of their steamy elevator romance. Sources confirm that the marriage was legalized in the state of Massachusetts before the actors jetted off to the tropical paradise for the intimate beachside ceremony.
A close friend of the couple who served as a bridesmaid in the ceremony told us that the pair have already purchased a home in Boston and plan on settling there - at least for part of the year - thanks to the state’s legalization of gay and lesbian marriage. She says that both actors are the happiest they have ever been in their lives with the ceremony.
Our source has told us that actor Patrick Wilson, actress Katherine Heigl, directors Guy Ritchie, Luc Besson, and Zach Snyder, among others, were present at the ceremony. The two grooms were dressed in Armani suits, Butler in white and Statham in black. Held at sunset, our source tells us that the men could not look any happier. Following the ceremony, a reception was held complete with Polynesian dancers, singing, and plenty of alcohol.
Publicists for both actors have yet to respond to our requests for comment, but a number of people have come forward to confirm that the relationship - and marriage - is indeed real.
“Of course it’s real, stupid,” said a second anonymous friend of the couple. “I was there when they met, before they started dating, right? Oh my God, there were sparks. These two big, burly, muscular men, you wouldn’t think anything would come of that, right? Wrong! Gerry had his hands all over Jason within minutes, out of sight, of course. Guy Ritchie should be so proud of himself, bringing them together. His marriage failed, but this match that he made, I don’t see it failing anytime soon.”
The anonymous bridesmaid confirmed this. “I’ve been Jason’s friend for years - we modeled together and I always teased how short he was next to me, being 6’1” and all - and I know him well enough that yeah, this is the real deal. They’re both just afraid of what the public would think. They love their careers. Acting is the world to both of them nowadays, after each other of course. They don’t think the public would accept an action hero - two of them - being gay and in love with another man.”
Our bridesmaid also disclosed the contents of the gift bags given to the twenty guests who attended. “Copies of some of their favorite movies. Paul Newman from Jason, of course - he’s been a huge fan of Paul Newman since he was a lot younger. Cool Hand Luke, The Sting, that sort. And from Gerry, of course a copy of 300. He had some interesting choices. Mean Girls, Wizard of Oz, Cruel Intentions…
“And a nice bottle of wine, a beautiful picture frame, a gift card for cupcakes. It’s just something cute and sweet to remind people of this special time. They’re so happy, and they want to share that love with their friends and families.”
