Well, I've decided I might as well actually post instead of simply read everybody elses and occasionally post an odd quiz or whatnot. I guess technically my last post was the break from my quietness, but I'll do some good old fashioned talking about myself ( Read more... )

Alex, think of it this way... For all the shit, for all the hard bumps in the road, and for all the things you have to deal with that you don't think you can handle, there are infinitely more great things, redeeming things about being a music director... Talk to Kloepper about it, tell him what's on your mind... He will talk to you, and, after all, he does have experience.

I know I'm replying a bit late to this, but let's see if I can help a bit: the big, grand kind of advice I would give is "follow your dreams," all that kinda stuff. And that's something I believe in as passionately as anything, and something I've talked a lot about before. Maybe you've heard some of my ranting about it, and you know how that whole thing goes anyway, so I won't go into that a bunch.
Here's my practical advice: double major. Find something else that you're reasonably good at and reasonably enjoy and just study both things. I'm doing drama and writing, for instance. They're both things I love - drama is my main aim, of course, but it's also something that will probably make me very little money, if any. Writing, on the other hand, has all kinds of opportunities that are both enjoyable and potentially profitable. So I'm just doing both.
Think about something like that. Not every big, important decision has to have an all-or-nothing, one-way-or-the-other solution.
