I don't get this either - admittedly it's horribly disappointing. I guess we're so stuck in jockeying within theoretical class structures, it's beyond idiotic.

I guess it is like how lighter-skinned blacks can be biased against darker-skinned blacks. I don't think we'll ever be rid of prejudice, all we can do is keep trying to recognize it in ourselves.

i think it's deep-rooted conservatism/patriarchy that even gay guys can't shrug off readily, that after the gay guys themselves have supposedly come out of the closet and saw the light (emancipated daw, but hardly), they have in turn started to discriminate against each other/amongst themselves. even gay guys are not exempt from the patriarchal/macho shit thinking, sadly.

Ugh, this is sadly true in the states also.

That said, I have to give him points for the "kow tow" comment just because I use that word all the time and no one seems to know what I mean (although, you're still right that he was being an obnoxious douche).
