Onew just can't get Kibum out of his mind.
based on jongyu's extremely askldhsajsjajk song, "Please, Don't Go."
Onew was holding Kibum in his arms. They spoke of nothing, instead using small nudges and grasps as communication. Onew smiled into Kibum's hair and inhales deeply, trying to take in as much of Kibum's fruity flavoured scent. He squeezed the boy tightly for a while before loosening his grip and repeated it after a minute or two. Kibum put pressure back, planting a fluffy kiss on Onew's neck.
"Onew~" Kibum sang in a soft voice. Onew hummed as a response and starting making aimless circles on his back. Then they pulled back a little and bumped their foreheads together, eyes hooded and gazes loving.
Then Kibum's small smile faltered and he closed his eyes. "I have to leave you now."
This always happens. "Why?"
"You'll see me again soon," Kibum said.
"Don't go," Onew pleaded, his grip tightening on the boy. But it was useless because Kibum had struggled out of it. Then Onew's vision suddenly became a blur and Kibum slowly started to disappear.
The tears in Onew's eyes when he woke up told him clearly that it was just a dream. Sighing, he reached up and wiped them away with the back of his hand. Dreams about Kibum were happening a lot lately. It was different on most nights, sometimes even continuing from the night before. But at the end of it, Kibum always had to leave Onew.
Onew still felt Kibum's presence lingering around him for a few minutes after he wakes, but soon it fades off. Then he glanced over to the real boy that was on the bed opposite of him and wonders if the younger boy was actually in his arms just a moment ago.
Onew slaps himself when he thought of that and pulls up the blanket to cover up his face from everything.
"Stupid, stupid, stupid," Onew mutters to himself and squeezes his eyes shut, attempting to go back to sleep without having to dream of Kibum again.

"Hyung," Taemin whispered one evening, "did you not get any sleep last night?"
Onew looked at the boy and pulls his hands above his head tiredly, hoping that stretching would help wake him up a little. "Not really," he says with a yawn. "I've been sleepy the whole day."
"Why not? I didn't hear you rolling on your bed at all," Taemin admits, stuffing his mouth with his favourite chips. Onew gives the boy an expressionless glance before crossing his hands on the table and laying his head in it.
"You sleep like a rock, Taemin. I don't think you'll wake up even if there was a band in our living room doing a 5 hour concert," Jonghyun said with a roll of his eyes. He ruffled Taemin's hair when the younger boy glared at him. "But that's kind of good. So you won't be able to hear me and Mi-"
"Whoa, hold up, dude," Minho cuts in quickly, raising his hand dramatically at Jonghyun's direction. "When did I ever allow you to speak of the noises we make?"
"Well, you just mentioned it now, didn't you?"
"I did not."
"Did too."
"Did not, you short dinosaur."
"Did too, you tall... tall thing."
Onew raises his head at this and gives both of them a disapproving look. Noticing how dazed Taemin was, Onew sighs and gets up to leave. "See what you have done to our maknae?" he says with a short, indifferent chuckle and walks away.
A thought suddenly hits him as he walks up the stairs. He's sleepy. He's really sleepy. Onew doesn't want to sleep anymore because the dreams were getting on his nerves. It made him even more awkward around Kibum. It was worst than before because he knew his blushes were redder and he never made any eye contact with the boy. So he resorted to having less sleep even though that's what he craved for every single day with their packed schedules.
"Hyung! Watch it," Kibum sighs. He intended to put his hand on the knob and open the door himself but he didn't know that Kibum was thinking the same thing on the other side. He lost his balance and stumbled forward and onto the floor. "Are you okay?"
Onew looks up into feline eyes and feels his heart do a flip. "Fine. Just sleepy," he mumbles numbly and struggles to get into a standing position because his head was spinning. "I just need sleep."
Kibum nods, a small smile on his lips. Onew's eyes widened as Kibum grabbed onto his hand and dragged him towards his bed. "Well, get on," Kibum says pointedly and Onew obeys. Kibum throws the blanket over him and tucks it in under his chin only to quickly pull away, arms flying to his head. "Oh right. You like to cover your face as well."
Onew laughs at this and feels himself blush with embarrassment. "It's okay. I'm too tired to care right now." Kibum nods slowly and bites his lip.
"Hope you get enough sleep tonight, hyung. You must be pretty tired because you haven't been sleeping well," Kibum says and walks to the door. He switches off the main light and turns to look at Onew. "Clear your mind and just relax. It helps when I can't sleep," he advises and smiles.
"I'll... try. Good night, Kibum," Onew mutters and shifts to get more comfortable. He hears the door close and he starts to wonder how Kibum knew he wasn't able to sleep at night.

Kibum heard shuffling in the room and he groggily opened his eyes.
He sat up abruptly at the beam of light that seeped into the room as somebody opened the door. At first his sleep filled eyes couldn't make out the figure that was standing there. He wasn't as skinny as Taemin so it must've been Onew. Kibum just watches as the older boy's shoulders rise as fall rather dramatically and he walked out.
Despite the leaders’ busy days and responsibility for taking care of five year olds in disguise, he knew that Onew still wasn't able to get enough rest at night. Even in the car, Onew would stare out the window blankly, not really being able to close his eyes and take a short nap. Kibum was dripping with worry.
What was bothering Onew?
Kibum rolls out of bed and yawned loudly, stretching his hands overhead. He glanced over at the maknae and shook his head as he noticed his blanket wasn't on the bed anymore.
"Yah, it's like he's fighting for his life in his dreams," Kibum mutters to himself as he strolls towards Taemin and picks up the blanket. He places it over the boy and pushed the hair out of his eyes. "He's so cute." Kibum smiles to himself as Taemin, coincidentally, scrunched up his face after he said those words. Then he tip toed to the door and silently slipped outside.
He found Onew on the balcony, aimlessly singing a song. The older boy didn't notice his presence as he stood by the sliding door, watching and listening carefully to what he was singing.
"Last night in my dreams, you drew close to me. Your whispered words, your hair that brushed against my face…" Onew shifted his weight onto his other leg. He bowed his head and took in a shaky breath. "When I woke up from my dream, it was all too clear that your presence was nothing but a dream. The tears in my eyes told me." Kibum felt a chill run through him as he heard those words. It seemed like he was speaking to him in that song. Somehow. He stepped out and put his hand on Onew's shoulder. "Hyung. It's cold."
Onew didn't jump. "I know."
"You might fall sick."
"I know."
"Hyung," Kibum stressed helplessly. "You're already so tired. You don't want to fall sick."
A long pause. "I know."
Kibum sighed, giving up. His hand dropped from Onew's shoulder. Kibum watched with worried eyes as Onew lifted his head and turned to look at him. Suddenly his air supply was cut short as Onew envelopes him in a hug. His grip was so tight; Kibum couldn't even move his arms or breathe.
"Hy-hyung," he managed to gasp. After a few heartbeats, Onew loosened his grip but didn't let go. Kibum sucked in all the air he could and pulled his hands up to Onew's chest to push him away slightly. He smiled at Onew's obvious blush but then it turned upside down when he noticed the glistening in his eyes.
"I'm sorry," Onew said numbly. He gave Kibum a sheepish smile and expected the worst to come after he said, "It's cold."
But Kibum only felt himself melt under those eyes...those tear filled eyes. "Hug me again."
Onew contemplated for a while before hesitantly wrapping his arms around Kibum and pulling the boy flush against him. Their warm bodies pressed together. Onew felt heat course through his whole body and he sighed.
Kibum buried his face in Onew's shoulder. "Hyung, why are you crying?" He felt Onew tense at this. Obviously he would, he didn't particularly want to tell Kibum that the tears were because of him. "You know you can tell me anything, right?"
"I know," Onew said with a chuckle, earning a light smack from Kibum. Then his face turned serious and brushed it over Kibum's hair, feeling it tickle his skin. "It's this... dream I've been having lately. It's making me weak. So I stopped sleeping. Well, more of I can't sleep actually."
"And what's been happening in this dream of yours?"
Onew scoffs and unintentionally lets out a small, "You."
There was a long pause as Kibum let that words register. "Me?"
"Yes. It's always a beautiful dream. But in the end you're always leaving me."
Why did Kibum feel his heart skip a beat and then start to shatter? He pressed his head more onto Onew's shoulder and hummed. "Why do I always leave?"
"Hm. I'm not really sure," Onew admitted slowly, now only wondering why Kibum was always leaving. His hands started to loosen around Kibum and he started to pull away, only to be grasped harder. Onew swallowed as his hands fell to his side and Kibum didn't let go.
"Onew. Those are dreams. Dreams. I'm here. I'm here now. And I'll always be here," Kibum started to murmur. "Even if I have to hold you to sleep so when you wake up, you won't feel like I left you, then I'll do it."
Onew was about to say something but Kibum pulled back to look him in the eyes. "I'm here okay? I'm not going to leave you."
Then Onew smiled and felt his eyes burns. Kibum was right.
They were just dreams.
