what's wrong with my layout? and I'm fine here for now, my family needs me, and my mouse is fine, it's a 5 button wonderful optical mouse.

maybe you should try being happy for yourself instead of trying to help that one person. maybe they just want to push it aside for a moment so they can be happy until they break apart. maybe you should ask if they even want help, or if they're happier now then they were before.
