Quasi-crack!fic recs (Dead Like Me, M*A*S*H, Due South, House).

We could probably argue about whether some or all of the following are properly crack!fics according to standard usage (is there even such a thing anymore, in fandom?), but we won't. Basically, these are recs of stories which feature either improbable situations, dubious characterizations, or both--and which concurrently satisfy a deep, inner ( Read more... )

Dude, The Fan is TOTALLY crack.

I am both pleased and saddened to hear your diss of President's Choice. I get a lot of commercials for them and their offerings (apple pie! bread! organic baby food if I ever had a baby!) sound so good that I really wish I was in Canada so I could get some. So, I guess I'm happy it's not all that, but a little sad too.

I love how I put all this energy into creating an entertaining, palatable rec entry, and you're all, "Hey, President's Choice!" ;)

To ease your mind, though, PC is absolutely not all bad. They have very good pasta, produce(!), and dairy. Love their brick cheese. I am not as wild about their sweets or baked goods, which is why I brought up the chocolate.

I made a comment on your dS rec! And now that I've finally had the chance to read the House fics, I have to thank you for reccing them-- after the last season finale I am in need of happy House thoughts.

Mmmmm, produce and cheese.

Oh, my God. I completely missed that the first time! Okay, I need to learn a screenreader, this is getting stupid.

Glad you liked the House fics! I haven't watched the show in a while, but I read other folks' recaps and, yikes.

Mmmmm, produce and cheese.

The PC carrots are really, really good. It's kind of weird.

Oh man - "Paying the Price". The plotline is fairly hard to explain to someone without sounding insane, but she does it so right.

I say bring on the warm hearts and the sugar!

I haven't read much M*A*S*H fic at all (totaling one story that I can remember and none that I could find again), so I'm excited to read your recs. :D

"Something slammed hard against his back and he tried to cry out in pain, but the sound lodged in this throat with the apple."

*giggle*

No, I mean, don't get me wrong--I love PtP, have read it many times. It's just such an amusing thing to write a story around. (I'm probably going to die from choking on a piece of fruit now, just to be taught a lesson.)

I've had some difficulty finding M*A*S*H fic that I feel excited about, which is kind of surprising. Let me know what you think of these two.

I liked Twilight the best. It made me smile. And almost tear up.

"House's concern, even couched in violence, warmed Wilson more than the scotch searing down to his stomach."

*giggles some more*

I totally shouldn't make fun of these, not just because it might rub someone the wrong way but because I REREAD THEM ALL THE TIME. Heh. It's affectionate teasing, it really is.

That said, of that trio Twilight is probably my least favorite. I like Paying the Price the best.
