A bit not good.

I've had an idea for a somewhat cracky, very porny, series-two-what-series-two Sherlock slash fic for a little while now.

I cannot possibly write it.

FOR ALL THE REASONS EVER.

I just thought I should make that clear.

AHHH PERFECT ICON CHOICE YOU.

Issues:

1. British English.
2. Research.
3. Practical research, which might involve hunting for a particularly adventurous sexual partner.
4. LAST SEMESTER OF SCHOOL. CANNOT SHOULD NOT BE CONSUMED BY FIC-WRITING.

Amusingly. 4. poses the biggest issue by far.

ETA 5. Giant potential audience of doom. I've grown accustomed to my comparatively smaller fandoms!

They are totally writing fics. About Mycroft and Lestrade probably.

1. Well, okay, but there are betas for that.
2. Okay, this really is a problem. When I start to research I tend to get lost in it and there is no writing happening at all, only neverending research.
3. Sounds like fun! ;)
4. Right. But luckily it's your last esmester so it will pass soon.
5. Do it anyway!!!!

I do not understand the Mycroft/Lestrade thing. At all. At all at all. I mean, I make no pairing judgements, ever. I just personally have no idea.

I can't quite fulfill my usual duty of talking you into writing stuff you can't possibly write because I wouldn't know what the hell you were talking about. But, still--you can totally write it, and I'm sure the fandom would be glad to have you.

*points at issues in above reply* They're actually pretty generic ones. Even my more detailed concerns regarding 3. aren't really fandom-specific. It's just like, "I've never done this and don't know what it would feel like, and I don't just want to go by somebody else's account." And that scene would be the (*eyeroll*) climax of the story. I may already have a lead on a research partner, though, hee.

I'm sure the fandom would be glad to have you.Oh, THERE'S an encouraging thought! LOL. I feel like I'm considering being voluntarily assimilated into the Borg ( ... )

I am very intrigued by issue 3, I have to say. Hee.

I understand being nervous about the big (insane) fandom--I won't even watch the show for that exact reason, so. But you may find the amount of love/appreciation the fic gets is worth it.

Having a set daily schedule is the only way I can function, so I can see how it might be helpful.

issue 3

Oh, I can't say it publicly--that would give away the game! I'll PM you or whatever. :)

My Borg comments notwithstanding, it seems like there must be some enclave out there for non-crazypants Sherlock fans to hang out and engage. I mean, the only reason I don't know where is that I don't go looking for that stuff in general. But it must exist. There are several non-crazypants fans just in this little thread ( ... )

Well, no. :) Also, I'll probably take a stab at it anyway. The initial stage of my writing process just often involves carrying on about how OMG I CAN NEVER WRITE THIS EVER WOE IS ME WOE WOE WOE TORTUREDARTISTCAKES and then soaking up a bit of validation/encouragement. Which you have helpfully provided, thank you. :D

*refreshes flist ten times to see if your fic is finished yet*

Yep. Aaron's just made of pure adorkable when he wants to be :D

Bless that brilliant person who managed to dig out the old footage of Aaron's appearance on The Price is Right. Otherwise this and other wonderful gifs would never have seen the light of day.

The virtue of dealing in a big fandom is that you get to pick and choose what bits you enjoy without copping too much scrutiny. Like with Sherlock I'm mainly reading fic and taking the rest of the fandom with a grain of salt.

Right, yeah. This. Assuming you can do fandom in that more compartmentalized way, which not everyone can but I have blessedly learned to. (Healthily compartmentalizing fandom from the rest of my life, however, is a different question.)

Knowing your fics, I'm sure the fandom will seriously love your work :)

Oh. *blush* Thank you.

Aahahaha Aaron. ♥
