What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
started dating someone ten years younger than me. that's a first.
Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
i don't do resolutions.
Did anyone close to you give birth?
uhhhh.... a couple of people i know had kids but i'm not SUPER close to them so i dunno. but there are ~20 days until i'm an uncle!
Did anyone close to you die?
yes.
What countries did you visit?
i could say i went to vancouver, and it would be true, but it was the one in washington. it's still kind of like another country. well, another planet. a planet i don't want to visit often.
What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
well i need a house here and in portland so i guess i need a billion dollars. i didn't have that last year. or ever.
What dates from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
march 7th. the day my baby brother got married.
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
i finally got my ass back to cali but i am living with my folks and horribly miss my girlfriend and my friends so i don't know how much of an achievement that is. i guess i would have to say finding a new job that i really like and a girl who is amazing.
What was your biggest failure?
i am ignoring this question because it is stupid.
Did you suffer illness or injury?
hmmm... nothing horrible, just the usual shit (asthma, falling off skateboards, running into various objects because i am a clumsy bastard).
What was the best thing you bought?
a plane ticket to portland for next weekend. i bought it like a month ago so it counts as a last year purchase even though i am not using it until this year. d:
Where did most of your money go?
aforementioned plane ticket and xmas presents. i didn't have much money this year, most of it was in the past two months.
What did you get really, really, really excited about?
there is this incredible, gorgeous, hilarious, dorktastic girl in portland that i get really giddy over.
What song will always remind you of 2009?
i'd say everlong by foo fighters, even though it's an older song, because it was one of the songs played while my brother and his wife were walking down the altar and now i forever associate it with their wedding. also i'll believe in anything by wolf parade because.... yeah.
Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? mostly happier
b) thinner or fatter? neither. i am not as thin as i was earlier this year but it's because i've gained muscle mass, not fat.
c) richer or poorer? richer in so many way.
What do you wish you'd done more of?
i should have hung out with my friends more before i left portland. i should have hung out with them more the whole five years i was in portland. sometimes being socially phobic kind of sucks.
What do you wish you'd done less of?
spending time alone in my room. i do it because it's so much easier on my sanity than constantly going out into the world but really, i don't think it's good for me.
How will you be spending Christmas?
obviously i should have done this a week ago. spent xmas with the fam, as always.
Did you fall in love in 2009?
oh yeah. big time.
How many one-night stands?
uh... i don't remember. a few. i didn't meet aforementioned girlfriend until the end of summer so yeah. a few. i am maybe a little bit easy sometimes.
What was your favourite TV program?
still heroes, fuck what anyone says. dollhouse was kind of interesting but nowhere near as good as joss' other stuff.
Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
hate takes too much effort and i don't like wasting my energy on it. you get back what you put out.

oh hell, i don't know.

What did you want and get?
a new job, an ipod, a girlfriend, being near my family again, a nephew (kind of. i've known about him for most of the year, at any rate).

my own place when i moved back home, a million dollars, a car.

star trek. so...much...eye candy...
What did you do on your birthday?
i went to a friday the 13th flashlight tour of the winchester mystery house with my family because i've been wanting to do that for ages and my birthday only falls on a friday every few years. it was SO FUCKING COOOOOOOL.
What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
i really would have liked to meet neigh sooner in the year so we could have gone on more than one date before i moved.
