Tonight We Dine on Lena Heady's NIPPLES!!!

You must forgive my vulgarities, my children.  You see, I have just returned from viewing 300, and of the film I can only observe that it is about 300 ways gay.   The weather in Sparta must have been warm, for no one seemed to need much clothing.  And I understand about the warrior culture of Sparta and all that, but there must have been a Gold's ( Read more... )

clearly whoever was behind this robust notion of the Spartans being so damn heterosexual was not familar with the custom of the Spartans dressing a woman as a boy on her wedding night so as not to shock her husband.

Hee! Wasn't it Plato who said, "An army of lovers cannot fail"? And Rita Mae Brown, who said of the Lesbian Nation, "an army of ex-lovers cannot fail"!

Cheers,

The notion of 100% heterosexual Spartans is just wrong. Didn't these people do any research? If they're going to produce a homoerotic film, they might as well go the whole way.

And more Lena, no matter what she's in, is always a good idea.

Oh, they did their research, all right. Leonidas derisively mentioned the "boy-lovers" of Athens, didn't he? Those cut-and-run when the going gets tough types!

What drove me crazy was...the narrator sounded like Patchy the Pirate from Spongebob.

When we saw it, there was an obviously gay male couple in the theater, but not even the abundance of rippling male flesh could keep them from walking out on the film once the heads started flying....

He DOES sound like Patchy! The blood and gore didn't phase me in this film because I knew that it was all computer-generated. I usually hate slasher films. This was so cartoonish that it left me unmoved.

I just wonder what it was like trying to deliver those lines in front of a blue screen with no scenery, half-naked, trying to keep a straight face.
