First of all, "Now, what?" isn't so bad. But the other two--are you seriously saying that these are actual first lines you've seen? Oh, dear. The "sad orbs" is truly eye-(or orb?)-rollingly bad. But the second one! Nothing like getting all the exposition into the first exceptionally long run-on sentence, is there?
