But it won't happen to me because God loves and protects me and all those other people didn't have enough faith or harbored someone gay and aren't surrounded by the self-righteous aura of smug self-satisfaction that I and my chosen brethren have. And besides, my gun is bigger than yours.
Also I told Eric about your musket rant. He thought it was brilliant.
They were really democratic - a militia armed with them could do some serious damage in rebellion against the government, but obviously only if a whole lot of men agreed that killing people was worth that rebellion and they work closely together to achieve it. (It's always men, isn't it?)
I'll cop to not being super familiar with policy in this matter (never paid that much attention until one appeared in my house), but I think better regulations for who can access guns, how many they can have, and what kinds are available to the public are a good idea. Taken in bits and pieces from what I've read on laws elsewhere in the world

And just stumbled upon this idea, which is brilliant, IMHO. From here Rather than parsing the Second Amendment one more time there is an easier approach, one typically favored by conservative gun owners for other public policy issues: end cost-shifting. Force those who chose to own guns to bear the full cost of the mayhem their hobby unleashes. Ending the gun subsidies will eventually end the gun violence
