I want to say, "A lot of people I know live far away from me, and I like keeping in contact with them," but I'd probably do it anyhow.

Aye, me too. And I feel like I ought to do it more too, is the ironic part.

I'm thinking about starting up a youtube account and doing it there. Unfortunately my speaking skills are much, much worse than my writing abilities.
