It is kind of... no, extremely irritating that people are insulting neverwiser's intelligence and common sense based on her posting "Dating Luke Snyder" on lure_atwt, seeing as readers, including myself, thought it was perfectly acceptable as well -- and therefore by extension are also being insulted.

And seeing as I have a similar story in the ( Read more... )

I totally missed the entire drama, bb. *hugs* I'm sorry things went bad.

Be grateful! I'm still fuming.

I enjoyed her fic and don't agree that it was a violation of the rules, but I'm glad I missed out on the drama.

I didn't complain but I was surprised with the content of the story b/c I don't think the summary and warnings gave enough info, IMO. We have the standard headings for a reason, so that readers can decide whether a story is right for them or not. If I had known it was post-canon and Reid was definitely not going to end up with Luke, I wouldn't have started it. Totally fine to write, of course, but better to post in other atwt forums. Again, my opinion. No anger or anything, but I'm here for enjoyment and stress relief. I only want lure stuff, so I don't read the other comms. Just so you can have a calm, i hope, view of the other side. Love your comments and stories, so hope you don't mind that you inspired a response to this as well.

So, don't stop writing. Just think of it as a way to find the right market for each story. Not all readers want the same thing and that's okay.

I completely understand your side of this, and the argument of people that it wasn't clearly marked and that they don't like the idea of the story. I suppose where we differ is that a lot of us believe it is still very much a LuRe story at its core and therefore should be allowed in the comm. Only LuRe fans will have an interest in reading it IMO, and that is because it is so heavily focused on how Reid shaped Luke, his love and how he ultimately comes to move on. The only difference between this story & others post-canon, is that he isn't alone, and the story is from the POV of the next man in his life.

Thank you, though, for being a calm & respectful voice from the other side of the fence! I completely respect the opposition in this little debate, it was the insults and lack of respect for not only differing opinions but the people giving them that made me the most upset.

I don't really like the new rules. I think we should be able to put any Luke and Reid story we want to. I'm going to stay in the community. It's still fun and I love reading other peoples stories.
My newiset story has Luke with a girl at the moment and the mods told me I have to put a warning about it. (I asked)

For future stories (including Eye of the storm that has Luke/Zoe) I'm going to use this warning:

This story may contain characters, pairings, situations and inanimate objects not in direct relation to the LuRe pairing!

Just in chase Luke's backside comes into contact with a chair that isn't Reid.

Perfect! Absolutely perfect. I hate that we are being forced to loose the element of surprise in our stories simply because some people are, as you said brilliantly regardless of the backlash, "overly sensitive" -- which many of them proved to be an accurate description, btw, when they came back just as rudely in their replies throughout the rest of the thread. <3

I think it is funny that those fans claim to like Reid, but when they come across someone who is as outspoken in real life they leak tears faster than Gretchen ever could!

Well, I can take the backlash, or a banning!
Creative autonomy is more important to me than a large target audience

I missed all of the drama too! I'm looking forward to your new story! I like to think that if canon stands then Luke would move on with someone new. (I think that Reid would want that too!)

I'm so sorry that you were criticized just for having an opinion. That seems wrong to me.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and I hope that you feel better soon!

Thank you! <333

I have started writing it but since I'm in the middle of Avery & Acquittal (which is one of those where I have no real idea where it is going xD), the story I mentioned, and a crossover I've also been working on for weeks now, probably won't be posted for quite some time. Still, this definitely made me think of that story and how I'm supposed to reach my only audience if the rules suddenly make it unacceptable.

I figure when I AM ready, I'll just post a link within another post for a different story ;) Shameless plugging ftw.

And thanks again! Have I mentioned that I miss you?!?!
*hugs back*

You deleted you comments yourself?
I was wondering why yours were taken down, when mine wasn't and I was the first one to call people lazy and sensitive.

I may step in a hornets nest, but I have to say, that I think that this disrespect of people who don't agree with the new rules comes due to the fact that a lot of people come from the Queer as Folk fandom.

There was a lot of disrespect there too towards people who shipped something else than Brian/Justin. I backed out of that fandom really fast.

Yes, I deleted them myself because I refused to be a part of the immaturity that arose from some of the replies I received ( ... )
