European Open, Day 4

today was my best day so far with 6.5 wins.  i lost one game by a mere 4 points because i only had one vowel and a V to dispose.  i ended up in 12th place, and i was ranked 16th, but i lost 136 ratings points because i played the bottom half.  if i hadn't tied, i would have won the class b prize.  oh, well.  maybe i'll have better luck in 4 days

nice playing! don't worry about the rating. it seems kinda all over the place in WESPA for your first few tournaments.

thanks. i do think the pairings system is broken. the top 12 have to keep playing each other to maintain their status, but the bottom half keeps playing new people to avoid repeats. on day 3 of 4, anyone who does well can move up to the top 10 after beating up on all the lower-rated players. if you were in contention for the prize, i think you would resent those people sneaking in.

good to know. i have to remember next time. when it's only a 5-point challenge, i should challenge more often. then again, i lost a game by 4 points, and if i hadn't challenged, i would have won by 1.
