While I was preparing the base for some chocolate sorbet the other day, I accidentally let the pot boil over.  The chocolate syrup scorched on the ceramic cooktop (oh, I miss my lovely gas range!) and left crusty black marks on the surface.  I grabbed a big sponge and started working on cleaning off the char once the surface had cooled a bit.
