What I want for 2008 to bring is what I want every year, the future; the future dreamed by the millions who came before me. Sometimes it was dystopian visions involving the thought police, fire departments that burned books or post-apocalyptic wastelands teeming with violence. Yeah, I was kinda looking forward to flying cars and robots that do all the housework. Maybe it'll still happen one day.

Very amusing entry. Michael Chrichton has written a few books about futuristic stuff. The Prey, in which nanobots are designed but go entirely too far and turn the host into some kind of nutcase. The Timeline, in which a machine is invented that could put people into alternate universes at different times in history. That machine eventually went berserk, though. I love technology, but yeah it can be kind of scary too.
