[ IC; hunter's journal ]

Jul 29, 2019 08:17

07.29.10 - I don't know much about the creatures in the City so this'll be nowhere near as intricate as Dad's journal, but I guess it's a work in progress. It's important that we know what we're up against at any given time.
08.13.10 - Transcribed a copy onto the Network for public use, starting to add things I didn't know about beforehand. Hazama and Eriol's roommate also working on a guide? Gotta find who they are, see if they'll want to collab. Lots of work to do.
01.26.11 - Lucifer's gone. Entry on memories added due to recent City-wide memory loss.
02.10.11 - Researched yetis with Dawn in the library. Entry added.
02.17.11 - We found Dawn hurt but alive. Entry on yetis edited.
03.17.11 - Dean thinks something's going on in the City. I'm inclined to agree, but I don't really know what it could be. Time to start taking notes, I guess.

[ People of Interest - Potential Threats ]

Nuada
  • citizen of the City, an elf with strong pride for the supernatural
  • began attacking supernatural citizens in late May 2010, blamed attacks on humans
  • attempted to rile the supernatural citizens into "retaliating" against the humans
  • wielded a staff/spear with supernatural properties, of which we observed:
    • removable tip upon stabbing to ensure death
    • healing body while tip is still embedded caused massive remission and near death
    • tip could only be removed by angel(?)
  • able to summon mechanical soldiers (ten) as small army, trained in hand-to-hand combat, "Golden Army" able to piece selves back together after falling apart
  • stabbed and killed by Anna on 6.3.10, turned to stone after death
  • returned to life seemingly unharmed on 7.28.2010
  • *spear/staff confiscated after assault on Castiel, kept hidden to prevent retrieval
    *left the City on 8.31.10
The Keeper of the Dead
  • goes by many names, incl. Death and Charon
  • lives(?) beneath the cemetery in the catacombs
  • enjoys salted eyeballs, preferably cattle or pig(jus.729)
  • strong disdain for deities, refused to answer to their demands(sab), claims he does not serve them
  • rebelled against his duties and the deities in July 2010
  • able to recreate bodies of the deceased, return the deceased to their bodies, bring the deceased back to full life(jus), permanently kill(jus.729), make deals
The Deities
  • general consensus is that there are five, may be more
  • are not the highest powers in the City
  • of unknown origin/mortality

  • will intervene when something extreme or out of their control happens within the City (keeping order?)
    1. deities I've witnessed personally
    2. Mouse: refers to self in third person, somewhat doll-like in appearance, childlike in nature(?)
    3. Laszlo: professor/scientist, highly educated, performed some sort of experiment (later arrested and jailed)
    4. Bertol: aggressive, swears profusely, not usually in charge of addressing citizens (filled in for "Lala", presumably Laszlo)
    5. Sabine: the "nice" one, motherly in nature, seems to be the most mature/responsible
    6. Lina: loud and exuberant, not very good at English, speaks with several synonyms, also quite childlike

[ Places of Interest - Potentially Dangerous ]

The Underground
  • essentially a city of its own beneath the City, several restaurants/shops/bars/etc
  • little to no natural light, literally the "shady" part of the City
  • several monsters of varying types, increasing in strength and speed the further in you travel
  • these monsters will not hesitate to attack on sight, best to avoid their territory
The Catacombs
  • a maze underneath the cemetery, no known entrance
  • several people were pulled in after digging in empty graves, no longer an entry point
  • home to the Keeper as well as several undead creatures (zombies/mummies/etc)
  • no food or water, many who became trapped died either of starvation, dehydration or from being attacked
The Barrier
  • the invisible (to most) forcefield surrounding the entirety of the City
  • believed to be the force that keeps citizens from leaving
    • may also be keeping other creatures from entering(har)
  • believed to act as a power limiter, dulling the powers of supernatural beings and limited all teleportation abilities[6]

[ Points of Interest ]

Death
  • those that died within their own worlds or the City continue to live within the City walls, referred to as City Dead
  • those that die or are killed in the City can be revived, cannot return home[5], will be considered City Dead
  • City Dead are able to heal, do not need to eat or breath, have lowered temperatures and no heartbeats
  • those that do not revive are presumably buried in the City cemetery
  • dead are revived by the Keeper
  • City Dead can be killed
Deals
three instances of deals: demon deals, Keeper deals and deity deals, entry discusses the latter two
  • Keeper Deals
    • one recorded instance of dealing with the Keeper: Justin Pendleton in July 2010
    • previously City Dead, encountered the Keeper in the catacombs
    • Keeper returned him to full life for the price of 18 animal eyes
  • Deity Deals
    • it is possible to bargain for virtually anything, ie. retrieval of something from home world to revival of City Dead to full life
    • every deal comes with a price, generally something significant you would otherwise never let go of, ie. memories and abilities
    • price for reviving City Dead to full life is one non-City Dead life (a life for a life)
    • price depends on gravity of request, more than one person can pay for one deal
  • make deals with extreme caution, price is often greater than the request
Memories
  • citizens that have left the City sometimes return with memories of previous stay intact, may also return with no recollection whatsoever
  • deity deals often involve significant memories, ie. pivotal experiences or significant others
    • memory loss can range from one month to permanently depending on gravity of deal made
  • City-wide memory loss began on 1.07.11
    • began with simple memories, ie. apartment numbers
    • gradually worsened, ie. all memories of home/the City/etc
    • memories began to return towards end of January
      • all memories returned intact by 1.31.11
    • cause is still unknown
Omens
  • stranger-than-usual occurrences began sometime Mar 2011
  • among these were:
    • library books began to randomly burn or fall to pieces
    • animals becoming frenzied and showed signs of fear
      • several animals and pets fled to the forest on 03.21.11, reasons unknown, locations unknown
    • black birds appeared to be circling buildings randomly
    • several reports of disembodied voices, insomnia and paranoia
    • the word "death" appearing on the Network in different languages(ros.311)
    • ghost pains of old injuries that have been healed
    • those whose lives had been returned by a deal lost their heartbeats(eup)
    • the fall of the tower on 03.15.11
    • the fall of the barrier on 03.28.11
    • the arrival of the harpies on 03.28.11
  • the connection between these occurrences are as of yet, unknown

If, at any time, you feel threatened by a citizen or something within the City, contact the police force or contact Brave Vesperia to assist you.

[ooc; STATUS : COMPLETE | On the Network → Public

Through OOC information, I am highly aware that there are several different kinds of demons/vampires/etc in the City that would not be killed in the same manner as the demons/vampires/etc that Sam is familiar with, but he has yet to be told this information ICly and will be amended as he learns more and more about the creatures in the City. :)

If there's any information you'd like to contribute, or anything you think needs correcting, this post also works as contact for that very purpose. Once the journal is a little more complete, he'll post an electronic version of it on the Network so that everyone can have access to it. ♥]
