yo. last night they had this many stories, one community thing at tufts where a minority pannel spoke about their experiences. there was this puerto rican girl from nyc who did a thesis on reggeaton and how it's so machista, etc etc. anyway i thought it was awesome that someone dedicated time to doing a paper on reggeaton of all things. half the people in the audience were scrathching their heads wondering what it is.
Likewise, Kanye West's song in which he says, "Get down girl, go head get down," is a complex metaphor for the grip of popular culture on suburbian girls, warping their minds into obsessing over the material goods and avoiding "higher" truths. Hence, they "get down" into ignorance.
