Public Opinion In 2004, 88 per cent of people said there were smoking restrictions at work. Ninety-one per cent were in favour of restrictions in restaurants, 93 per cent in other public places and 65 per cent in pubs, 17 percentage points higher than in 1996.
Mortality Statistics In the UK; about one in five deaths are caused by smoking. That is over three times as many as are killed in road accidents! Throughout the world; smoking and cars kill more people than guns.
I understand that for people that don't smoke it's horrible and unhealthy to be in a room with smokers.
I would have no problem if smoking got banned in restaurants or eateries. For a smoker it is very hard to just stop or even go without for a couple of hours. There is a factor with pissem me off though, alcohol like tabacco have always benefited the goverment with the high taxation on them, but really say that a non smoker goes out to a pub for an evening a week what is more likely to happen, for him to collapse on the floor cause of the smoke or be attacked by some random drunk.
Alcohol is way more addictive and dangerous. but of course the goverment could never ban alcohol cause it's what it makes it's money from.
I see the two points but at the same time i am a smoker so it's a sensible subject.
I, on other hand, am loving the ban ... I feel much more free to go out at nights now ... without fearing the hurty eyes & stinking clothes & wrenchy feeling in the morning.
It was not so bad in clubs but some pubs were terrible for it.
:o) They are IR sensitive photos; the originals were mostly b&w (strongly tinted green), with slight residues of real colour poking through.
Usually, I cannot get anything more than a b&w photo out of them (see my journal for other examples). However; at Neon they have these three big spotlights; one green, one yellow, and one red. Those were really very powerful (and hot!) and they gave enough light to shine through a little more than usual on the IR photos.
So, I emphasised the effect a bit, and hey presto!
