Mission: Operation Plantagenet COMPLETE

May 27, 2010 22:49

The mission "Operation Plantagenet" was technically successful, even if we lost three mechs, two pilots, and never actually figured out what 'Operation Plantagenet' was on-screen.

Mission Summary

The participants in this mission were:
Axel Almer
Kira Yamato
Kurtis
Kyosuke Nanbu
Lamia Loveless
Ryusei Date
Shinji Ikari
Simon Jeeha
Viral

The Neo-DC arrived at the GDF Tokyo base with an ultimatum to surrender - when the GDF predictably refused, the NDC leader Van Vat Tran stated he was willing to settle things diplomatically. Another member of the NDC, Vindel Mauser, however, had different ideas, revealing himself as the leader of an organization called the Shadow-Mirrors and cleaving Van's battleship in two, stating that he was only interested in prolonging and spreading the war, for mankind's advancement.

Meanwhile, Kurtis had been challenged by a duplicate of his past, mortal self with an odd...speech impediment, the doppelganger demanding the "Soul of a true Defender of the Earth" in the name of the parallel-GDF. Kurtis and he fought, the duel eventually reaching the main combat, where the fake Kurtis noted his "priority zero target 'Zweizergain'" and attacked Vindel...ineffectively. Vindel, for his part, expressed outraged surprise at the small combatant, apparently having thought it was a larger, or at least more important, parallel-GDF force.

While all that was going on, Axel and Lamia had reacted unexpectedly to the arrival of Vindel Mauser and his comrade Lemon. Axel, on hearing Lemon's voice, regained his memories and his true persona - as a high-ranking officer in the Shadow-Mirrors. Soulgain proceeded to completely destroy the Alteisen in a fierce duel. Lamia, for her part, threatened to destroy the GDF base (and a chunk of Tokyo) with her self-destruct system and a purloined thermonuclear device. And when Kurtis finally finished his double, 12 more appeareed - Mass-Produced Kurtises.

Things looked bleak, but reinforcements arrived in the form of renegade parallel-GDF soldier Captain Gordon, DEFENDER OF THE EARTH!, as well as Simon, Viral and Ryusei reinforcing the GDF from orbit. The GDF forces held off the attacking Shadow-Mirrors and Kurtises long enough for Lamia to reach a different decision - taking on the Shadow-Mirrors' commander mechs, she used he self-destruct - Code ATA - to vastly weaken Vindel's Zweizergain and Lemon's Ashsaber.

At that point, Axel Almer called for the Shadow-Mirrors to retreat, which Vindel reluctantly agreed to when Zweizergain again came under a final attack from the dying Van Vat Tran. With the Shadow-Mirrors departed, the GDF eliminated the remaining Mass-Production Kurtises, who explained in dying stutters that they weren't cyborgs, but rather robotic copies that had been rejected by the parallel-GDF scientists who created them.

Additional Notes
-The Angelg and the Alteisen were both completely destroyed.
-Axel Almer has apparently defected to the Shadow-Mirrors, who have in turn seized control of the Neo-DC from within.
-No trace was found of Lamia's cockpit module, and it is presumed destroyed along with the rest of Angelg.
-Kyosuke Nanbu was injured, although not critically. He'll be back on his feet within the week.
-Much like the last time apparent Shadow-Mirror forces were fought, no bodies were found in the cockpits of the Gespensts and Randgriths that were shot down, only machinery.
