The Funeral

However, it's not all just fun and games, even now. We've come a long way, but we won't forget those who were sacrificed along the way.

The atmosphere is somber. There will be a standard military sendoff for the many soldiers who lost their lives in the final battles, but today, we honor three in particular...

Words for the manly hero who gave his life to tear open a path to victory at the last moments of the battle for Earth.

"If there was ever a good word to describe Kittan, it was this: Simple. He was admirably simple. He fought for the people he cared about. He gave everything his all. He got on well with kids, especially his niece.

"But above everything else...he's the reason why I am where I am today. Kamina may have given me my motivation...but Kittan gave me support. When I was pulling everyone up from above, he pushed with all his might from below. Back in the old Team Dai-Gurren, he was every bit as important as I was to our success and our survival. That's just the kind of man he was. And I know that he would have had it no other way than to give his life for the people and the home he so loved. I only regret I couldn't have been there to see it myself.

"So let's accept a brave man's dying wish. Let's keep this planet he loved so much happy, safe, and peaceful."

Words for the scientist whose ingenuity created a ray of hope in the GDF's darkest hour.

Mr Ohmiya... I still remember his last words. He said he cannot fight or pilot a giant robot, but this is the way he can help us all.

And that is true. No matter, are you a fighter, a scientist or just a common person. Your actions can make the difference in the world. And that's what we should do - follow his example and make a difference, everyone in their own unique way.

Kusuha's crying quietly nearby. She's not even about to try to give a speech, but she wants to remember Rob and all the others who gave their lives here.

Words for the former leader of the GDF, who died as few men dare to dream.

In an unprecedented moment, Duo actually gives the coffin a salute. And not a lazy, casual affair, a proper one. If ever a man has earned respect, it was this one.

[And right next to him is the man that Hauwsr welcomed back even after all the dickery he pulled, saluting just as solemnly.]

Talk to each other. Honor the memories of those who have fallen.

Signum is standing somberly at off to the side. Three true soldiers, who gave their lives, along with so many others, for the sake of protecting the Earth and, indeed, the whole universe. She recognizes it's only by a succession of miracles - and their sacrifices - that she or someone she loves is not among them.

"May all warriors have such unflinching honor as these," she murmurs.

"Indeed," Kurtis enunciates as boldly as ever in reply, wiping a single tear. "And may their sacrifices give us the hope we need."
