I know it is an ironic quote. The quote doesn't make TR great. It's easy to look bank now and see his flaws, but he was a great president and remarkably progressive for his time. TR didn't think in black and white stupid word-encased box terms of doer-vs-critic but I think he did everything with a flourish and could communicate that way when it served him.

Maybe you could post the quote with the disclaimer:

this quote is ironic and cancels itself out. it has nothing to do with TR's greatness. this quote may be in stupid black and white word-encased box terms but TR thought nothing like he wrote.

that hypothetical disclaimer sounds more mature than the one i would write. which would be:

'alas, to the detriment and blasphemy of word-usage for all time to come immemorial, TR wrote nothing like he thought.'
