Hm. It’s an interesting point, but I’m not sure that you can license software to only be used unattended in non-coal power areas.
There’s some sort of Mad Puritan deep within me that looks at your post and says, “Putting off work now so that it can be done more efficiently years in the future is immoral!” I don’t know where he came from; it may stem from some sort of gene of impatience-my Instant Gratification streak is somehow mollified by getting to work on things now, even if it’s slower.
I also think Kurzweil’s curve is going to get seriously messed up once we get viable quantum computers.
Well, considering Kurzweil's curve extrapolates back to when the entire planet's computer power wasn't worth $1000, I'm pretty impressed with it--but I'm sure there's some Jack Welch-ian curve management going on to make it nice and smooth
