Yeeeeeeeeeeah, no. As someone who grew up on the Eastern side of the Cascades, we have *ALWAYS* pointed and laughed at folks from the wet side trying to drive in snow. It ain't a 'since the Californians moved up' thing, it's a Western WA thing. ;)
I simply choose not to drive in it unless absolutely necessary, and honestly, if it's THAT necessary, it's likely an ambulance need anyways.

I know how rusty I am for driving in winter conditions, and can either walk or bus to most of the places I might need to go. Gloves, hat, scarves with capes or cloaks and warm layers will keep me comfy and the exercise will do me good.
Regardless of first learning to drive by having to back around a corner and uphill on ice in my dad's stick shift.
