No you're not the only one. Don't get me wrong, I love then friends that I've made here, but I still (and probably always will) love my highschool friends more. From what I've heard from most people in our boat (I guess we're all in different classes, b/c I never see any of them! With my luck I'm in steerage) is that they feel the same way: friendships are still budding. Actually I was talking to some '03s this past summer, and they unanimously told me that college doesn't feel normal until second semester. Don't fret. Things will work themselves out...as long as you put forth the effort. Good luck with the paper :)
i empathize with what you're saying in a lot of ways. for some reason, i feel like it was easier in high school to make a lot of friends. i've been lucky enough to find about 5 people in the dorm here that i really get along with but outside of that group, i feel really frustrated by my inability to meet people.
i also hear you on doing shitt(il)y in classes... my writing class is absolutely slaying me and i think the paper i'm working on for another class right now but running away from by reading livejournals will be a rather painful hit to the gpa.
