cultural adjustment

one way i can think of adjusting to a culture is learning the language prior to arrival. however, when you travel to a place that is when you learn the language the best through conversational speaking of the natives. but having a basis for the language before going somewhere would facilitate the feeling of loneliness because one could talk to the ( Read more... )

I agree that it is key to travel to a country with at least a background of the language. In my post, I talked about how much of a difference it makes to speak the language whenever you can, when ordering dinner for example. It certainly makes meeting people easier.
