have faith...bound_amaltheaDecember 26 2010, 02:36:01 UTC
before I met my husband, my family gatherings were mostly about what everyone wanted and what they got in the long run. However, since I've become a part of a different family, I've seen a different type of Holiday. They're amazing with their simple gifts. Cook ware, home-made fudge, home-made ornaments, pictures of family across the sea, as well as thoughtful things as reminders for the years to come. It's true that the holidays have become commercialized, and with it forgotten meanings. Yet, I have faith that as long as we keep reminding our children and our own family of its true meaning, Christmas will never truly be lost. As for the antiChrist, I would direct parents to watch the original Willy Wonka movie, for it is an ageless review of many sins which dictate our daily lives. May you have a Happy Christmas Ms. Ssha. And have a wonderful New Year.

i worked for Hallmark for years, and their ornament premiere is usually the week of my birthday...in July. it SUCKS having your birthday usurped by Christmas creep when it's in the middle of summer.
I just figured that people had started celebrating two holidays - the Christmas where we're all nice and go to church and mouth the words about charity and peace and good will (how about volunteering at your local homeless centre any of the other 364 days of the year then?); and at the same time we seem also celebrated ancient rite of Saturnalia - the end of winter festival where we all drink ourselves into oblivion, exchange gifts, eat until we're ill and (if we're lucky) have sex with inappropriate partners. I don't see that the two are incompatible, but I do think we should stop confusing one with the other
