This was sent to me by a friend - I can remember smiling wryly as I read it and I agree that it has enough merit to be shared.

I am happy to call myself a Christian, but I also realise that there are many who would be unconfortable in hearing such a statement aloud. I try as much as I can to "do the right thing" but also acknowledge my humanity - ( Read more... )

This read a bit strangely to me and I've finally found out why - only the first half was written by Ben Stein.

I don't think much of the rest of it, to be honest. The last section in particular seems to be implying that if you don't pass this on that God will think less of you, and that's only a small step away from 'pass this on to 5 people or you'll be cursed with bad luck'. Something with merit doesn't need a religious guilt trip to persuade people to forward it.

Ah! Really?

That makes sense - I agree, the 1st half was the bit that resonated as having merit, and I'm now irritated with myself for falling for a "pass this on or else" mail (they normally go straight in the "bin").

Oh well - it least I learned something!
